International Rural Development Day

On Sunday, 6th July, the world marked the International Day of Rural Development. We at BRICS INSIGHTS stand in solidarity with millions of rural communities whose livelihoods, resilience, and potential shape the foundation of sustainable development.
Rural areas are home to the majority of the world’s poor and food producers. Yet, they often remain underserved in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and market access. The call to prioritise rural voices and invest in their future is not only timely but also essential.
At BRICS INSIGHTS, our work is rooted in evidence-based research that informs policy, scales innovation, and strengthens programs focused on rural development. Through rigorous impact evaluations, participatory research approaches and close collaboration with governments, NGOs, and community-based organisations, we aim to bridge the gap between knowledge and action in rural spaces across Africa.
This day aligns closely with our broader mission to:
Support livelihoods of smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and rural entrepreneurs,
Promote inclusive agricultural value chains,
Inform social protection programs that reach the most vulnerable,
And generate evidence that drives sustainable rural economies.

Let this day renew our collective commitment to:
Centre rural voices in program and policy design,
Champion resilient rural systems in the face of climate and market shocks,
And ensure that no one is left behind on the path to development.
Let’s continue to build, inform, and empower, insight by insight.
